Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026 · Last updated: October 18, 2026
1. Who we are
Fly LA Experience ("we," "us," "our") offers private scenic discovery flights from Van Nuys Airport (VNY), Van Nuys, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information collected through www.flylaexperience.com (the "Site"), by phone and email, and when you book or take a flight. It is also our Notice at Collection under California law.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to arrange a safe flight and run the Site. In the last 12 months we collected the following categories of personal information:
| Category (CCPA) | Examples | Source | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number | You | Respond to you, schedule and confirm flights, customer service | Inquiries: 24 months. Customers: 5 years after your last flight |
| Booking & commercial information | Experience chosen, dates, number of guests, aircraft and route preferences, gift purchases, payment status | You | Provide the flight you request, records and accounting | 5 years after your last flight (7 years for tax/accounting records) |
| Physical characteristics (sensitive) | Approximate weight of passengers | You | Only aircraft weight-and-balance safety calculations required by the FAA | Deleted within 90 days after your flight unless needed for a safety or legal matter |
| Signed waivers and identification | Liability waiver, photo ID shown at check-in; proof of citizenship if you choose to log flight time | You, in person | Safety, insurance and legal compliance (including TSA flight-training rules when applicable) | Waivers: 5 years after the flight (longer for minors, until the minor turns 23). We do not copy ID unless required by law |
| Accessibility needs you tell us about | Mobility or hearing accommodations | You (optional) | Provide the accommodation you ask for | Deleted after your flight unless you ask us to keep it |
| Internet or network activity | IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, date and time | Automatically, from your browser | Deliver and secure the Site, prevent abuse, fix errors | Kept by our hosting provider for a short period, generally 30 days or less |
| Photos and video | Photo & video package images | Us, during your flight, only if you purchase the package | Deliver your photos | 12 months, then deleted. We will not use them in marketing without your written permission |
We do not collect precise geolocation, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers through the Site, biometric information, or information about your race, religion, health conditions or sexual orientation. Please do not include sensitive information in free-text form fields. We do not take payment on the Site; if you pay by card, payment is handled by our payment processor under its own privacy policy and we do not store full card numbers.
3. How we use personal information
- To respond to your questions and booking requests and to provide your flight;
- To meet aviation safety requirements (for example, weight and balance) and our insurance obligations;
- To send transactional messages such as confirmations, weather updates and rescheduling notices;
- To send marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time;
- To operate, maintain, secure and debug the Site and to prevent fraud and spam;
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
We use sensitive personal information (passenger weight) only to provide the service you requested and keep you safe, as permitted by California Code of Regulations, title 11, §7027(m). We do not use it to infer characteristics about you. Because of this, we do not offer a "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" link.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who we disclose personal information to
We disclose personal information only to service providers who help us run our business, and we choose providers whose terms limit their use of your information to providing services to us:
| Provider | What they do for us | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Website hosting and delivery | IP address, browser and device information, pages requested (server logs) |
| FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) | Delivers booking, contact and privacy-request forms to our email inbox | Everything you type into a form |
| Google LLC (Gmail / Google Workspace) | Our business email, where form submissions and emails are received | Form contents, emails you send us |
| DigitalOcean (Spaces CDN) and Unsplash | Deliver photographs shown on the site | IP address and browser information when an image loads |
| Payment processor (when you pay by card) | Processes payments | Name, payment details, amount |
| Insurers, accountants and lawyers | Professional services | Booking records and waivers as needed |
Bookings made on Airbnb. If you book through Airbnb Experiences, Airbnb collects your information under its own privacy policy and shares with us what we need to host your flight (such as your name, group size and messages). We handle that information as described in this policy. Links to Airbnb and BBB open their websites, which have their own privacy practices.
We may also disclose information (a) to government authorities, such as the FAA, NTSB or TSA, when required by law or in connection with a safety investigation; (b) to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, staff or others; and (c) to a buyer or successor if our business is sold or reorganized, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
5. We do not sell or share personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use advertising pixels, retargeting, or third-party analytics on this Site. You can still record an opt-out preference on our Your Privacy Choices page.
6. Cookies, local storage & tracking
This Site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, session-replay tools, chat widgets or third-party analytics. We store a few small preferences in your browser's local storage, only on your device. Details are on our Cookie Policy.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. California law requires us to tell you how we respond to "Do Not Track" signals. Because we do not track you across websites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser.
When a page loads photos, your browser connects to the image hosts listed above, which receive your IP address as part of normal internet operation.
7. How long we keep information
We keep each category of personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, using the retention periods in the table in Section 2, unless a longer period is required by law, needed to resolve a dispute, or needed for an active safety or insurance matter. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, limiting access to booking records to staff who need it, and security headers on the Site. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If a breach of unencrypted personal information occurs, we will notify affected individuals as required by California Civil Code §1798.82 and other applicable law.
9. Emails, calls & texts
If you give us your phone number, we will call or text you only about your inquiry or booking. We will not send marketing texts or use autodialed or prerecorded marketing calls without your prior express written consent. Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Marketing emails are sent only if you check the opt-in box; each one includes an unsubscribe link and our postal address, and we honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Flights for minors must be booked by a parent or legal guardian, who provides the information and signs the waiver. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
11. California privacy rights
Depending on our size, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA") may not legally apply to us. We nevertheless honor the following rights for California residents:
- Right to know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to;
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, waivers and records we must keep);
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share);
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we use it only for permitted purposes);
- Right to data portability, receiving your information in a commonly used format;
- Right to non-discrimination and no retaliation for exercising these rights. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
"Shine the Light" (Civil Code §1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
Minors in California (Business & Professions Code §22581). Registered users under 18 may ask us to remove content they posted; we do not host user-posted content, but you may contact us with any request.
12. Residents of other states
Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale and profiling. We honor these requests for all U.S. residents. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line "Privacy Appeal"; we will respond within 60 days (45 days where required). If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
13. How to make a privacy request
- Use our online privacy request form,
- email flyoverlanet@gmail.com, or
- call 818-516-8010.
Verification. To protect you, we verify requests by matching at least two pieces of information you give us (such as your name, email or phone and a flight date) with our records, and we may contact you to confirm. For requests to know specific pieces of information, we may require three matching data points. We will not ask for more information than needed, and we use it only to verify your request.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent. We will require signed written permission from you and may ask you to verify your identity directly, unless the agent holds a valid power of attorney.
Timing. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to 45 more days), we will tell you why. Opt-out requests are processed within 15 business days. Responses are free unless requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
14. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. We review this policy at least once every 12 months. If we make material changes to how we use information already collected, we will notify you before the change takes effect.
